What is empower?
ABB empower is ABB's global digital commerce platform which brings together all aspects of commerce including creating and tracking orders, managing project quotations, and obtaining post sales support. This premier tool brings together all functionality within a single login and user experience.
You will frequently hear us talk about ABB empower in the context of the below 3 pillar product modules.
empower Flow
empower Flow is what we refer to as the core of the empower platform and is made up of functionality you would typically associate with an eCommerce tool. From here, users can browse our digital product catalog, obtain price information, create and track orders, and submit requests for our post sales service team.
empower Quote
Users with access to empower Quote will be able to manage their projects, ranging from small to large. This is also where users will find the familiar product configurators for building product such as panelboards, switchboards, MCCs, etc. You will also manage the full quote life cycle including full pricing capabilities and order release management.
empower Documents
Most users will interact with our document generation capabilities from the context of managing a quote. This is where users will be able to customize, download, and deliver key documents throughout the life cycle of the job. This ranges from a simple Bill of Material to a full project submittal package.
Login, Registration, & Managing Accounts
Registering for an Account
New users to ABB's e-commerce tools will need to complete the user registration process. This creates what we refer to as an ABB SSO ID which will become your unique user login. After you have completed that step, you will continue to complete your empower profile.
For more detailed information on the complete user registration and setup process, check out the Getting Started: User Registration & Login lesson.
TIP: For ABB employees or users who already have an SSO ID, DO NOT complete the registration process. You can simply login to empower with your SSO credentials and complete the setup process.
Requesting Account Access
There must be an account tied to your profile to begin using empower. This is what grants your access to your ABB customer account information and allows you to see pricing, place orders, and manage quotes.
Account access is requested during the registration process but can also be requested at any time by accessing the Manage Accounts section in empower.
Be sure to visit the Requesting Account Access lesson for detailed information and steps for gaining access to your customer accounts.
TIP: If you do not know your ABB account number please contact your ABB account manager or you can locate this on documents such as invoices, order acknowledgements, etc.
empowerU Learning Portal
empowerU is ABB empower's learning portal for all things empower! From the Learning Library, users will have access to all the great tutorials ranging from Getting Started guides to announcements about upcoming features. You will also notice from time to time that you might receive an assignment from empowerU to make you aware of some key lessons that might be of interest.
TIP: empowerU is powered by our partner Lessonly and some URLs and emails may reference 'lessonly.com'.
Interaction with the empowerU Learning Portal can come in several different forms.

Users can also search the full library for additional information. These lessons can be taken directly from the widget or users can navigate to the full library.

Ask the Expert
When viewing a lesson within the empowerU learning library, users can leverage the Ask the Expert button to submit a question or comment to the empower support team. This questions are routed directly to our support case management system and will be taken up by one of our empower experts.
Ask the Expert button can be found when viewing a lesson from the integrated help widget or when viewing the full learning library. Users will also be able to ask for further support when viewing the search results.
System Notifications
With ABB empower, we strive to be transparent when it comes to the performance of the platform. We understand that empower is a critical tool for our users (both internal and external) and we want to ensure that all users are aware when we are having unexpected system issues and outages.
ABB empower's https://status.empower.abb.com/ page is the place to get all information during a system event. Once an issue has been identified with any empower module, our support teams will utilize the status page to keep users informed during the outage. Users can elect to receive emails and (or) text messages for outage communication.
Scheduled maintenance events are also published on the site to ensure users are aware of planned downtime to avoid disruption.
Check out the full Status & Outage Notifications lesson for full details including how to ensure your are registered to receive updates.
Banner Notifications
Both outage and other critical messages are often displayed using our various banner notifications within ABB empower. These notifications will be displayed on key pages throughout the application and can be dismissed once viewed. Be sure to check out the information especially if you suspect there is an issue with empower before contacting empower support.
TIP: banner notifications will often provide information about upcoming release activities to inform users of new functionality. Be sure to check these updates out to stay on top of the latest improvements to ABB empower.
